About Along For It All

Blake + Melanie

Hi! We are Blake and Melanie Hemmerling, the creatives behind Along For It All. We were both born and raised in Seattle and can’t see ourselves ever living anywhere else. As much as we love exploring new places, we’ll always call the Pacific Northwest home. We met in high school but always say we weren’t high school sweethearts as we started dating the summer after our senior year. At the end of that summer, we parted ways, immediately having a long-distance relationship, Blake going to college in Florida and Melanie staying in Washington. We’ll always say those were the hardest years we’ve gone through. We’d definitely not suggest long distance to anyone. Shortly after college, we got married, and both embarked on our careers. Graduating from Film school and always having a camera in hand, Blake decided to start freelancing rather than looking for a more traditional job. He quickly grew a small client base and started a creative firm called Little Hammer, named after our last name Hemmerling meaning quite literally “little hammer.” We like to think it represented how a little firm can still build big things, and that’s what he always set out to do. Melanie went to college for Hospitality and quickly found herself working at a hotel in downtown Seattle very quickly after graduation. She always had a love for design, finding herself writing college essays in InDesign (that certainly should have been a clue), but really found her love for pursuing creative work while in the hotel's sales and marketing department. It had always been a dream that one day that we would be able to work together, and a few years into our careers, we finally took the leap. Together we’ve been able to travel to many places shooting photos and videos for companies and to this day still do.

Along For It All was born out of the desire to bring creativity into our personal lives. Doing creative work for a living can sometimes take the creativity right out of it. Even though we were constantly creating, something felt missing. Along For It All’s mission is to bring inspiration and encouragement to others looking for ways to express their creativity in the day-to-day. Whether that be in cooking, home projects, or exploring your own city so much inspiration is around if you just look for it– and be willing to try. Life is undoubtedly a journey best shared with others, and we hope you’ll come along for it all.
