Our Wedding
While planning our wedding day we decided early on that our main priorities were to have a day where we could bring together our family and friends and above all else just get married. We wanted things to be both beautiful but also simple. After initial research on traditional weddings, we were blown away at just how expensive it could be, and with that, we opted to do a brunch. Honestly, we’d never heard of anyone doing a brunch wedding but we wanted to do a Saturday and the cost savings for doing it in the morning was something that sold it for us. That and the french toast and cinnamon roll cake.
The Venue
We got married at the Hollywood Schoolhouse in Woodinville, which had an outdoor garden area for our ceremony and a pretty indoor space for our brunch reception. It ended up being the perfect size for our roughly 125 person guest list, consisting of our closest friends and family.
Our Wedding Day
The morning of our wedding started out with rain. The forecast had been going back and forth all week, and with having an outdoor ceremony, everyone was a bit on edge. Right before they needed to call it though, the sun came out and we were able to enjoy a beautiful morning ceremony out in the garden. We had a string trio playing classical music as people entered which really set the tone, and this was one of our favorite details. We wrote our own vows to each other and had a teacher and pastor whom we’d known for years officiate. After the ceremony, we moved inside, for our brunch reception. Since the ceremony was earlier, all our foods were brunch foods, french toast, frittata, sausage, fresh fruit, and a bunch of other brunchy favorites. Even our wedding cake was a cinnamon roll. We had a nice time hearing speech, seeing family and friends, and celebrating our wedding day.
After the Wedding
One of the best part about having an early wedding is that it also ends earlier. We made our way to the Thompson Hotel in Seattle where we were staying the night. We were able to enjoy dinner and drinks on the beautiful rooftop of the hotel. It was perfect. We film a lot of weddings and we heard over and over that most couples are so tired at the end of their wedding day because it goes so late that they don’t really end up spending any time together that night. So, we were glad our wedding was earlier so we could enjoy a nice meal and drink on our wedding night together and not only celebrate with family but also celebrate together as a married couple!
